This oil-on-canvas painting was created in 1903 by American painter and printmaker Thomas Moran (1837-1926). After his travels through the American West, Moran visited Italy and encountered sights of a different kind, including this valley around Cuernavaca, which he painted to share its lush green hills, a winding stream, and faraway mountains.
