The Patriarchs, Zion National Park
This watercolor on paperboard painting was created in 1924 by Swedish-American artist Gunnar Widforss (1879-1934). The Patriarchs are three huge sandstone peaks located on the west side of the main Zion Canyon in Zion National Park, Utah. The peaks were named in 1916 by a Methodist minister after the biblical figures of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. (Smithsonian)
