This oil-on-canvas painting was created in 1895 by Danish-born American maritime artist Antonio Jacobsen (1850-1921). Jacobsen spent much of his free time at New York’s harbor and along the Hudson River, painting pictures of all manner of boats—from tugboats to transatlantic liners. (Smithsonian)
