This oil-on-canvas painting was mounted on fiberboard. It was created in 1860 by Romantic painter Raden Saleh (unknown - 1880). He was born Raden Saleh Sjarif Boestaman in the Dutch East Indies and was of Arab-Javanese ethnicity. He is remembered as the first "modern" artist from Indonesia. (Smithsonian)
