View of Olinda, Brazil
This oil-on-canvas painting was created in 1662 by Dutch Golden Age landscape artist Frans Janszoon Post (1612-1680). When the Dutch took over Olinda, a coastal town in the Pernambuco region of Brazil, Post painted the cathedral. Because he liked the idea of animals living together harmoniously, he added several, including a monkey, a sloth, and an anteater. (Rijksmuseum)
