This oil-on-panel painting was created ca. 1678 by Dutch Golden Age landscape artist Frans Janszoon Post (1612-1680). Post spent time in Brazil at the invitation of the Dutch governor during the Dutch occupation of northeastern Brazil (Dutch Brazil). This painting is part of his series he painted from memory and sketches after he returned to the Netherlands. (Rijksmuseum)
