The British Fall from Goat Island
This tinted etching, subtitled “Part of the British fall, taken from under Table Rock,” was created by British-born painter and engraver William J. Bennett (1787-1844). Table Rock was a huge rock outcropping over the Niagara Gorge at the Horseshoe Falls, now eroded and destroyed. This etching/aquatint was published in 1829 by Henry J. Megarey (LC-DIG-pga-01561).
