This painting shows Civil War Gen. Ambrose Burnside leading Union troops against Confederate troops led by Gen. James Longstreet on November 29, 1863. The engagement was integral in bringing an end to the Siege of Knoxville (Tennessee). The chromolithograph was published ca. 1891 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01839).
