This painting shows a scene from a Civil War battle fought in early October 1862, in Corinth, Mississippi. Confederate troops led by Gen. Van Dorn and Gen. Price fought Union troops led by Gen. Rosecrans. The Union victory gained control of the Corinth-Memphis railroad. This color lithograph was published ca. 1891 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01847).
