Battle of Fredericksburg
This painting shows the Army of the Potomac, a primary Union field army, crossing the Rappahannock early on December 13, 1862, under the command of Generals Burnside, Sumner, Hooker, and Franklin. This Confederate victory was a major defeat for the Union Army. This color lithograph was published ca. 1888 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01851).
