The Battle of Opequon
This painting shows a scene from the Battle of Opequon, also known as the Third Battle of Winchester (Virginia). It was fought by Opequon Creek on September 19, 1864. It marked a turning point in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign, giving control to the Union Army. This color lithograph was published ca. 1893 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01855).
