This painting shows the Battle of Resaca, which took place in Gordon and Whitfield Counties, Georgia, in mid-May 1864. Union forces led by William Tecumseh Sherman fought the Confederate Army led by Joseph E. Johnston. The battle was considered a Union victory. This color lithograph was published ca. 1889 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01856).
