This painting shows the capture of Fort Fisher, the second attempt to overtake this major port during the Civil War on January 15, 1865, led by Union Major Gen. Alfred Terry and Rear Admiral David Porter. The powerful sea assault enabled a successful land assault. This chromolithograph was published ca. 1890 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01862).
