Snow Leopard At Rest
Snow leopards are nicknamed “ghost cats” because they are shy and rarely seen. They live high up in the mountains of 12 countries in Central and South Asia. Their long, thick, fluffy tails help them keep their balance in the steep terrain they hunt in. They are carnivores with long, powerful legs that help them hunt blue sheep and ibex, marmots, and hares.
NOTE: Some images are valuable historical records. To preserve their original condition, we have presented them as captured; their resolution may not be optimal for modern displays.
