Gorillas are often called “gentle giants of the forest.” Wild gorillas all live in central Africa in family units called troops, which number up to 30 gorillas. A troop is usually composed of one dominant male, several females, and all their children. Gorillas are primarily herbivores but are known to also eat insects and snails.
