African lions are among the strongest mammals in the animal kingdom. Adults weigh between 265 and 420 pounds. With a size relative to a six-foot man, they can measure from 4.5 to 6.5 feet from snout to rump. A twitching tail adds another 26 to 40 inches. They are social animals who live together in prides.
