This photograph shows an Old Judge baseball card portrait of Samuel Washington “Sam” Wise (1857-1910), shortstop and second baseman for the Boston Beaneaters. (At the time, Boston was recognized as Beantown.) Across twelve seasons, Wise also played for the Detroit Wolverines, Washington Senators, and others. The photograph was published ca. 1888.
