This photograph shows a sloppy slide attempt by Detroit Tigers player Harry Edwin Heilmann (1894–1951). He was tagged out by Washington Senators’ third baseman, Howard Shanks. Heilmann was nicknamed "Slug" due to his exceptional hitting ability. The Senators won this game 6-2. The photograph was published in 1921.
