This photograph shows an Old Judge baseball card portrait of William “Bill” Stemmeyer (1865-1945) when he was with the Boston Beaneaters. (At the time, Boston was recognized as Beantown, hence the team’s name.) Stemmeyer played four seasons for the Boston Beaneaters before signing on with the Cleveland Spiders. The photograph was published ca. 1888.
