The passerine, or perching, bird is found in the northern forests of North America, Europe, and Asia. These plump birds, about the size of robins, travel in large, nomadic flocks in the winter, looking for fruit-bearing trees, bushes, and shrubs. They are sensitive to alcohol poisoning from eating fermented berries and fruit.
