This songbird is the state bird of six US states: Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wyoming. It has a gurgling song that sounds like a flute and goes down in pitch as it warbles. Although they do eat some grain, they mostly help farmers by also eating the insects that damage their crops.
