Barred Owl in the Forest
This vocal bird of prey is known for its distinctive appearance and wide range across North America. Its distinctive call is a series of 8-9 hoots that sound like it is saying, “Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you-all?”. These owls live in wooded areas and wetlands. They hunt from a perch in a tree for small mammals, other birds, amphibians, and reptiles.
