This medium-sized vulture is the most common—although rapidly declining—vulture in the continent of Africa. They roost and nest in open woodlands and savannas in small groups. Scavengers, they gather in large numbers at a single carcass. They have strong stomach acids that keep them from getting sick from their decaying food.
