Gray Crowned Crane, Tall and Majestic
This large bird, found in Sub-Saharan Africa and the national bird of Uganda, stands out because of the stiff gold crown of feathers on its head. It is one of only two kinds of cranes that can roost and perch in trees due to its long hind toe that is able to grasp branches. It is currently listed as Endangered because of illegal trade and habitat loss.
