Brigade Officers
Union Army Horse Artillery
This photograph shows brigade officers of the Union Army Horse Artillery commanded by Lt. Col. William Hays posing for a group portrait in Fair Oaks, Virginia, during the Peninsula Campaign. These men traveled on their own horses, allowing for greater speed on the battlefield. The photograph was created ca. 1865 by James F. Gibson.
