Old Market House
This photo shows the Old Market House (also known as Market Hall) located at 188 Meeting Street in Charleston, South Carolina. While the larger building served as a farmers’ market for farmers and plantations, the upper room served as a Confederate recruitment office during the American Civil War. The photograph was created in 1865.
