Wiard Gun at U.S. Arsenal
This photo shows a soldier in uniform standing by a Wiard gun on the grounds of the U.S. Arsenal in Washington D.C. The Wiard gun was a kind of field artillery cannon, known for its heavy-duty semi-steel construction. These came in 6-pounder and 12-pounder models. The photograph was created in 1862 by Mathew B. Brady.
