This photograph shows Union Major General Philip Sheridan and his cavalry generals together in front of his tent during the American Civil War. The officers are identified, from left to right, as: Brigadier Generals Wesley Merritt, David McMurtrie Gregg, Major General Philip Sheridan (center), and Brigadier Generals Henry E. Davies Jr. and Alfred Torbert. An aide, Lt. Col. George A. Forsyth, is standing behind them. The photograph was created in 1864 by Mathew B. Brady.
