Lieutenant Colonel John Shackleford Green
This studio of portrait shows Lieutenant Colonel John Shackleford Green (1870-1890) of Co. B, 6th Virginia Cavalry Regiment of the Confederate Army. Green enlisted in the Confederacy on April 22, 1861. He was wounded on September 22, 1862, in Paris, Virginia, and taken prisoner of war. He was paroled on September 22, 1862. After charges of disobedience of orders and breach of arrest, he resigned β€œfor the good of the service.” This photograph was taken ca. 1963 by Mathew B. Brady.
