Lieut. Gen. James Longstreet (CSA)
James Longstreet (1821-1904) was Robert E. Lee's highest-ranking field commander. Lee often referred to him as his "old war horse." Although Longstreet was sometimes blamed for Lee's defeat at Gettysburg, Lee wrote after the war, "...no one can wish you more success and more happiness than I."
