Brig. Gen. John S. Marmaduke, (CSA)
During Price’s Missouri raid in 1863 Marmaduke accused General L. M. Walker of cowardice for failing to support him and for falling back under Federal pressure. Challenged, Walker responded and a duel was fought in which Marmaduke shot and killed Walker, costing Price one of his two cavalry commanders.
