Jefferson Davis
Jefferson Davis (1808-1889) was a military officer, statesman, politician, and leader of the Confederacy during the Civil War. He served as president of the Confederate States of American throughout its duration, from 1861 to 1865. After his capture in 1865, he was jailed for two years at Fort Monroe, Virginia, charged with treason.
