George Edward Pickett (1825-1875) commanded Pickett's Division/Longstreet's Corps at Fredericksburg, Suffolk and Gettysburg. Pickett made a memorable charge against the Federal front on Cemetery Ridge on the third day of Gettysburg. Met with withering artillery and musket fire, the charge was broken. With the repulse of “Pickett’s Charge,” the Battle of Gettysburg was virtually over.
