Northeastern Railroad Depot
This photograph shows people standing around the ruins of the Northeastern Railroad depot in Charleston, South Carolina, after the city was evacuated by the Confederate Army during the American Civil War in February 1865. The depot was destroyed by an explosion during the evacuation, resulting in the deaths of many women and children. The photograph was taken in 1864 by George N. Bernard.
