Mrs. Abraham Lincoln
This portrait of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln was created in the Mathew Brady studio in Washington D.C. Mrs. Lincoln’s striped evening gown with a large hoop skirt was likely made by her seamstress, Elizabeth Keckley, a formerly enslaved Black woman.
