Bridge on Virginia Railroad
Bridge on Orange and Alexandria Railroad
This photograph shows a US Military Railroad train crossing a recently rebuilt wooden trestle bridge on the Orange & Alexandria Railroad. After the Confederate Army destroyed the original masonry bridge, Union Army engineers quickly built another. The locomotive was named “Firefly.” The photograph was created ca. 1865.
