This oil-on-canvas painting was created by American artist Willard L. Metcalf (1858-1925) in 1907. Metcalf liked birch trees and painted several such scenes. This one shows a stand of birches with their characteristic white bark setting a nice contrast to the pastel, sunlit landscape. (Smithsonian)
