This oil-on-canvas painting was created by American impressionist artist Theodore Robinson (1852–1896) ca. 1888. The title translates in English to “The Cowherd.” The painting portrays a young peasant girl in a long skirt and apron, looking down at her hands, with a cow behind her. (Smithsonian)
