This oil-on-canvas painting was created ca. 1887 by Italian painter Arnoldo Tamburini (1843–1901). Tamburini’s paintings were humorous, showing people in real-life situations. Here, a pair of men—possibly an artist and art lover or clerical person—are holding a conversation in front of a nude sculpture. (Smithsonian)
