William Henry Holmes
This undated watercolor painting was created by American artist William Henry Holmes (1846-1933). Holmes was also an explorer, anthropologist, archaeologist, artist, scientific illustrator, cartographer, mountain climber, geologist, and museum curator and director. He led a remarkable life and still managed to paint 80-100 pieces of art. (Smithsonian)
