The woman in this photograph is identified as Kitty Leroy, a well-known figure of the American Old West. The photograph shows her in typical "cowgirl" attire, complete with a hat, a bandana, a revolver, playing cards, and chips—all part of her life as a frontierswoman and gambler. She was known for her sharp shooting skills and often performed in Wild West shows, much like another famous frontierswoman, Calamity Jane. Hand tinted by Stanley R. Waine.
