The Gibbon River flows east of the Continental Divide in Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming). The photographer’s wagon is seen crossing the upper ford of the river, which flows through meadows and past numerous geothermal features. Photographed in 1884 by F. Jay Haynes, hand tinted by Stanley R. Waine.
