Mahpiua Luta, Red Cloud, was a famed chief of the Oglala Sioux. He fought fiercely in the 1860's to retain rights to hunting lands along the Powder River. He later ceased fighting, fearing more his people's extinction. Photographed by David F. Barry ca. 1905.
