Posed here are Naiche and his wife, Ha-o-Zinne (“Standing Up Like a Tree”). Naiche, second son of Chief Cochise, became a leader of the Chiricahua Apaches following the death of his elder brother, Taza, in 1876. Naiche was one of the last of the Apache resisters to surrender. Photographed in May 1884 by A. Frank Randall.
