The Scarlet Swallowtail butterfly is also known as a Scarlet Mormon butterfly. This large swallowtail is native almost exclusively to the Philippines. Its wingspan can reach over 5 inches. Due to its coloring of black wings with red spots on the hindwing, the butterfly shown here is known to be a male.
