Ôiso, Odawara, Hakone, Mishima, and Numazu
This woodblock print is part of the series “Pictures of the Tôkaidô Road,” portraying different locations along the historic route connecting Edo (Tokyo) with Kyoto. It was created ca. 1848–52 by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), considered the last great master of ukiyo-e art or woodblock print. (From the collection of the Rijks Museum, Amsterdam)
