Ogura Imitation of the One Hundred Poems
This woodblock print features Princess Kariya and her mother Kakuju, fictional characters from the Japanese kabuki play Sugawara and the Secrets of Calligraphy. It was created ca. 1847 by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), considered the last great master of ukiyo-e art or woodblock print. (From the collection of the Rijks Museum, Amsterdam)
