This woodblock print shows famous folk hero Yamato Takeru no Mikoto about to stab a man with a sword. It is part of a popular series of 33 woodblock prints called “Yoshitoshi’s Warriors Trembling with Courage,” which feature famous historical Japanese warriors. It was created ca. 1885 by Japanese printmaker Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892). (Library of Congress, LC-DIG-jpd-0036)
