Amerika, Furansu, Nankin
The title translates to “American, French, Chinese.” This woodblock print shows three people: a woman holding a glass, a man looking through binoculars, and the Chinese man touching his head. It was created in 1860 by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858), considered the last great master of ukiyo-e art or woodblock print. (Library of Congress, LC-USZC4-10410)
