Bandō Mitsugorō no Satsuma Nokami Tadanori
The title translates to “The Actor Bandō Mitsugorō in the Role of Satsumanokami Tadanori.” This woodblock print shows the actor Bandō Mitsugorō, one of Japan's most beloved kabuki actors, on a horse. The woodcut was created (with color) ca. 1825 by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Kuniyasu Utagawa (1794-1832). (Library of Congress, LC-DIG-jpd-00251)
